We are blessed beyond blessed with God’s forgiveness and grace. Psalm 103 tells us that our sins are removed as far as the east is from the west. God let them go! The Bible commands us to forgive others, but sometimes that seems to be rather difficult. Consider forgiveness as letting go. Letting go of … blame; our stories of being wronged; grudges; dwelling on being hurt; judgement and the need to be right. Matthew West, a Christian songwriter and singer, wrote the beautiful song, Forgiveness. This song encourages us to love the unlovable and asks God to help us forgive others as He forgave us. Matthew sings “The prisoner that it really frees is you.” Is not forgiving someone causing you to be imprisoned? As we reflect upon repentance and God’s forgiveness during Lent, let’s open our hearts to forgive.
